Bioreactors and Fermentation Systems

15 liter capacity fully controlled bioreactor

The Bio-Process Group lab features bioreactors and fermentation systems for small and large-scale cell culture and microbial fermentations. Our bioreactors are available in various sizes, ranging from 1 to 15 liters. This scalability allows us to accommodate diverse project requirements, from small-scale research and development to larger-scale validation before moving on to pilot-scale trials. These advanced systems are also fully controlled for automatic temperature and pH adjustments. Leveraging our expertise and the capabilities of our bioreactors, we work closely with you to optimize your bio-processes. By fine-tuning parameters such as nutrient supply, aeration, and agitation, we can enhance productivity, increase yield, and improve overall process efficiency.

Analytical Equipment and Systems

For accurate quantification and analysis of bioproducts and processes, we have a wide range of analytical equipment including digital brix meters, pH meters, dissolved oxygen probes, high precision analytical balances, a spectrophotometer, and a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system. These instruments allow us to determine the concentration of sugars, cells, and metabolites, as well as analyze complex mixtures and identify compounds. With our spectrophotometry and chromatography resources, we can provide detailed characterization and quality control of your bio-engineered products.

Microbiology Resources

Our microbiology resources are designed to cater to a wide range of applications, enabling us to assist you in diverse projects requiring expertise in micro-organisms. We maintain an extensive collection of micro-organisms that includes a range of strains of bacteria and fungi, enabling us to provide customized solutions for your specific bio-engineering needs. To support microbiological sample preparation and analysis, we have multiple centrifuges of varying capacities. We are equipped with a laminar flow hood and other measures for the safe and sterile handling of micro-organisms, ensuring the integrity of your experiments. Our lab also features several controlled incubator-shaker systems that combine precise temperature control, agitation, and aeration to create a favorable environment for microbial cultures.

Pretreatment and Hydrolysis Equipment

The Bio-Process Group lab is equipped to handle various pre-treatment processes, including hydrolysis, pyrolysis, and high pressure reactions. With our muffle furnace, we can perform pyrolysis reactions to convert biomass, waste materials, or other substances into valuable bio-based products at lab scale. Our various pressure reactors allow for hydrolysis reactions and other high pressure reactions to be carried out under controlled pressure conditions, optimizing the yield and efficiency of the process.
